The Local Police have confirmed the arrest of the suspected arsonist responsible for setting multiple vehicles on fire in Adeje, during the early hours of Friday morning. The incidents occurred in Calle Hermano Pedro, in the south of Tenerife.
The arrest was made possible thanks to an investigation by the Guardia Civil, who identified the alleged perpetrator within a few hours.
According to police sources, the detainee has already been brought before the courts, marking a key step in closing a case that had caused considerable concern among local residents.
How the incident unfolded
The fires broke out during the night, triggering a large emergency response. Firefighters from Bomberos de Tenerife, Adeje Civil Protection volunteers, the Guardia Civil and Local Police all took part in extinguishing the flames and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles and buildings.
Several cars parked on the street were affected at the same time, immediately raising suspicions of arson and prompting an urgent police investigation. Thanks to rapid coordination between services, officers were able to identify and detain the suspect in under 24 hours.
Police highlight public cooperation
Local Police have publicly thanked all emergency teams for their swift and coordinated response, noting that their fast action prevented further damage.
Authorities also reminded the public of the importance of reporting any suspicious behaviour. Information from residents can be crucial in preventing similar incidents or other acts of vandalism in Adeje.
