A 28-year-old resident of Adeje has been arrested by the Guardia Civil accused of carrying out a series of deliberate fires over the last few weeks, which destroyed a total of 14 vehicles and damaged one residential property.
All the incidents occurred at night, putting nearby residents at serious risk while they slept. According to investigators, the detainee is also linked to earlier arson episodes reported in different parts of the municipality.
The first of these dates back to 13th January, when three cars were completely destroyed in a blaze near El Cerco, close to the bus stop and the Parque Pedro Zerolo.
Just days later, in the early hours of 17th January, a hybrid car and two motorbikes were torched outside a home in El Galeón, with the flames spreading to the property while its occupants were inside.
The most recent fire took place in the early hours of last Friday on Calle Hermano Pedro, where five vehicles were burnt out and three more suffered material damage.
The Guardia Civil launched a full investigation as the succession of arson attacks triggered growing public concern. The Territorial Judicial Police Unit carried out on-site inspections and gathered evidence, ultimately identifying and arresting the suspect less than 24 hours after the latest incident in the centre of Adeje near the auditorium.

Authorities also confirmed that the detainee has previous records for similar offences, a factor considered crucial in the investigation. They added that the arrest has helped restore calm and security among residents who had been increasingly alarmed by the escalating situation.
The suspect has been brought before the judicial authorities along with the case documentation and is awaiting trial.
