A 46-year-old German has been arrested in Lanzarote, accused of killing a British bar owner after a scuffle at the bar ended with him being pushed off the terrace and down some stairs below.
The incident took place at dawn on Sunday morning (May 28th), on the terrace of a cocktail bar in Playa Bastian in Costa Teguise. A brawl broke out between the two men when in the middle of it, the German pushed the 50-year-old owner of The Clock Bar off the terrace and down some stairs below.
According to sources close to the investigation, two Local Police patrols were the first to arrive at the scene and tried to treat the Brit until medical personnel arrived. They managed to stabilise him and took him to hospital, but he, unfortunately, died on Monday from the injuries he sustained.
The Guardia Civil then took over the case and studied the testimonies and videos of witnesses, which led to them arresting the 46-year-old German, who is also a resident on the island, before taking him to court where he faces charges for murder.
