A new 478-room resort is preparing to open in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, on 1st November, bringing a substantial increase in accommodation capacity to one of the Canary Islands’ most popular holiday destinations.

The four-star Elba Corralejo Resort & Spa is being developed across approximately 60,000 square metres and will combine hotel accommodation with extensive leisure, dining, wellness and family facilities.

One of its standout features will be its swimming facilities, with 20 outdoor and river-style pools planned throughout the complex.

The resort will also have four restaurants and four bars, providing a range of dining options for guests during their stay.

More than 4,000m² dedicated to children

Families will be a major focus of the new resort, with more than 4,000 square metres dedicated specifically to children’s leisure and entertainment facilities.

These will include a large splash park and water-play areas, dedicated children’s pools and outdoor recreation spaces.

Kids’ clubs and organised entertainment will provide activities for different age groups, giving families a substantial range of options without having to leave the resort.

Combined with its extensive swimming facilities, family-friendly accommodation and dining options, the development will significantly increase Corralejo’s capacity in the family holiday sector.

Spa, wellness and sports facilities

Adults will also have access to a dedicated spa and wellness area, together with a gym and sports facilities.

The scale of the development means the new property will effectively operate as a self-contained holiday resort, combining accommodation, restaurants, bars, swimming pools, entertainment and leisure facilities within one complex.

What could the new resort mean for Corralejo?

The arrival of a 478-room hotel represents a significant addition to Corralejo’s existing tourism accommodation, particularly as it is scheduled to open at the beginning of the Canary Islands’ important winter season.

The additional capacity will allow considerably more visitors to stay in the town at any one time, while the scale of the resort could also increase demand for workers, suppliers and other tourism-related services.

Its strong emphasis on children’s facilities also adds substantial new capacity aimed specifically at the family holiday market, an important segment for Fuerteventura and the wider Canary Islands.

However, a resort offering extensive restaurants, bars, pools and entertainment within its own grounds could also retain a proportion of guests on-site. The eventual benefit to surrounding restaurants, bars, shops, excursions and other local businesses will therefore depend partly on how much guests venture into Corralejo during their holidays.

The development nevertheless represents a substantial investment in Corralejo’s tourism infrastructure and introduces almost 500 additional hotel rooms into the local accommodation market.

Recruitment under way ahead of opening

With the November opening approaching, recruitment is already under way for a range of positions at the new resort.

Jobs are being advertised across departments including reception, kitchens, maintenance, entertainment, wellness and general hotel services.

Corralejo is particularly popular with British and Irish holidaymakers, with its beaches, nearby dunes and ferry connections to Lanzarote making the town one of northern Fuerteventura’s principal tourist centres.

The new property will become part of the Elba Hotels portfolio, which already has a significant presence in the Canary Islands.
