Barcelo Group unveils stunning new hotel in Gran Canaria

In a dazzling start to 2024, commemorating 50 years since its debut in the Canary Islands, the Barcelo Hotel Group is proudly opening its third hotel in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, its sixth on the island. This latest complex, named Occidental Las Canteras, is a historic milestone, as it marks the spot where the entire archipelago welcomed Barcelo's first landing in 1974.

Collaborating with a group of investors, including professionals and landowners of the former Las Lanzas hotel site, Barcelo has transformed this prime location into the exquisite Occidental Las Canteras.

Situated just steps away from the bustling promenade along the beach of Las Canteras, the third Barcelo establishment in the capital boasts a prime location on the second line of the beach. With a four-star rating and 79 rooms, Occidental Las Canteras proudly joins the city's hotel scene alongside the esteemed Santa Catalina, the Royal Hideaway Hotel, and the Occidental Las Palmas.

Delighting guests with an array of culinary experiences, the hotel presents the "O! Breakfast," featuring the iconic Occidental Hotels & Resorts breakfast buffet, a buffet restaurant offering local and international cuisine, the "O! Market" with a tempting selection of drinks and snacks, and a rooftop bar complete with a pool, signature cocktails, and gourmet delights.

Members of the investor group expressed their delight at partnering with a world-leading hotel management company, emphasising the significance and privilege of Barcelo's involvement. They acknowledge the company's global recognition as the recipient of the prestigious award for the best hotel manager in the world.

Highlighting their commitment to progress and tenacity, one partner underlines the group's utilisation of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) tools in the Canary Islands to drive investments and propel projects forward.
