Plans to build new public housing in Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, have taken a significant step forward after the Canary Islands Government approved the technical execution of a key phase of the development.
The Adeje development will see the construction of 51 protected public homes, along with associated parking spaces. The properties will be built on plots in the town located between Calle Pedro García Cabrera, Calle Rubén Darío and Calle Antonio Machado.
This local project is one part of a broader scheme delivering a total of 159 homes across several municipalities, including Arona and Guía de Isora in Tenerife, as well as Arrecife and Santa Lucía de Tirajana in Gran Canaria.
Funded by EU Recovery Programme
The development is being supported by European funding under the Next Generation EU programme, aimed at boosting infrastructure and housing availability.
The construction budget has been revised to €9.4 million, up from an initial estimate of just over €8.3 million. Officials say the increase reflects current construction prices and is intended to ensure strong competition during the public tender process.
Full Infrastructure Included
The project goes beyond basic construction, incorporating detailed plans for electrical systems, plumbing, and thermal installations. It also includes health and safety studies, as well as full project management and on-site supervision to oversee both the main works and associated subprojects.
The initiative marks another step in addressing housing demand in Tenerife, particularly in high-growth areas such as Adeje.
