Travel agencies in Europe are expecting to start the reactivation of tourism ‘en masse’ from June and reach 40% of the sales obtained in the summer of 2019 this season, sending out a unified message of ‘confidence and security’ across the EU.
This was announced by the director of the Corporate Association of Specialized Travel Agencies (ACAVE), Martí Sarrate, during the presentation of a survey on the state of travel agencies after a year of pandemic, in which 20% are victims of the economic crisis and have closed.
"If everything flows normally, we believe that the recovery could be from June," said Sarrate, for whom reaching 40% of the sales made in 2019 would be "quite good for the sector", since in 2020 sales fell by 90%. However, 63% of agencies surveyed, said that they do not foresee recovery until the 2022 season, while 34% confident that it will be this summer.
