A 74-year-old cyclist has been injured following a collision with a car in Teguise, Lanzarote, at around 10.40am on Wednesday morning.
The accident happened in Calle Hacomar in the village of Tiagua, and led to two ambulances (one advanced life support and one basic) and the Local Police being dispatched to the scene of the accident.
When they arrived, paramedics treated the cyclist for multiple injuries before taking him to Molina Orosa Hospital for further care, while the Local Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
Lanzarote has become a popular place for cyclists thanks to its good weather and scenic routes, but with more visitors taking to the roads, there have been growing calls to improve safety and make sure both drivers and cyclists can share the roads safely.
