Following today’s emergency Governing Council meeting, the Minister of Health for the Canary Islands, Blas Trujillo, announced that due to its high incidence, Tenerife moves back to alert Level 3 for coronavirus, which means, among other measures, the closure of the interiors of hospitality businesses, in addition, meetings will be a maximum four people.
The decision involves tightening the restrictions and measures to slow down its advance. "The most important source of infections is in people under 45 years of age, and infections are being seen in people over 65," said Trujillo. All this data has led to this decision.
Thus, if there are no changes, the Canary Islands Government will impose the closure of the interiors of hospitality venues but will keep terraces open with a 75% capacity and a maximum of four diners per table, except for cohabitants. Additionally bars and restaurants must close at 11.00pm.
The level change will be maintained for at least two weeks from its entry into force, once published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC).
Mass events are not allowed, the capacity in public transport is reduced to 50%, both in land and metropolitan, hospitals visits are suspended, except in a situation of need at the discretion of the physician.
As for the rest of the islands, Lanzarote remains at Level 2 for another week and the rest remain at Level 1.
