Magma will begin mass vaccination in the south at the end of April
The Ministry of Health has finally officially announced that the Magma Art and Congress centre in Playa Las Americas in the municipality of Adeje, will open at the end of April as a mass-vaccination point in the south of Tenerife, something that Canarian Weekly told readers over a month ago.
As well as this facility in the south, the Recinto Ferial exhibition centre in Santa Cruz, and a space in the University of La Laguna will also start mass vaccination as the government ramps up its plans with increased delivery of all vaccines and the first arrival of the Janssen single dose serum next week.
Earlier in the week it was announced that 100,000 vaccinations a day would be needed for the Canary Islands to reach 70% of the target population (1,350,000 people) vaccinated with both doses by the end of summer, but the SCS claim they are able to do twice that number of up to 30,000 a day (210,000 a week) which is still over double the biggest number they’ve achieved so far, which was 14,470 inoculations on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health also confirmed that they will reinforce the vaccination plan at the Gañanía Exhition Centre in Los Realejos by increasing its hours, and will create two more smaller regional points to vaccinate in Garachico and Candelaria.
