A woman has been arrested in Gran Canaria after storming into a shop in Carrizal, Ingenio, and threatening a staff member with a machete before running off with just €138 in cash. The attack was described by investigators as shockingly violent for such a small sum, and left the employee terrified.

The incident took place at around 11 am on 4th November, when the woman entered the premises armed with a large machete and demanded that the shop assistant empty the till. She stuffed the cash into a plastic bag and escaped on foot.

CCTV footage soon revealed that the woman had entered the shop an hour earlier, asking for money without using violence and receiving a few coins from the employee. She later returned with part of her face covered by a hood, dressed exactly as before, but this time armed with the machete.

Officers recognised her as a familiar face in the area, allowing them to quickly confirm her identity. With strong cooperation between the Guardia Civil and the Local Police of Ingenio, she was tracked down and arrested just hours after the robbery.

She was later presented to the duty court in Telde as the investigation continues.
