A bus carrying tourists on a trip to Mount Teide caught fire this afternoon (Sunday) and has completely burnt out needing the fire brigade to battle the blaze, but fortunately, no one was injured according to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The fire broke out in a lay-by on the TF-21 highway by the Mirador del Pino Gordo in Vilaflor in the south of Tenerife at around 3:30pm, which is when CECOES received an alert in the 112 call centre informing them of the fire.

The fire brigade, the police, and ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the incident, where firefighters extinguished the blaze and members of the forestry service secured the area, to prevent fire from spreading to the pine forest around them.

As you can see the fire completely destroyed the bus, but due to the quick actions of the driver and the guides, no injuries were registered to any of the 50 passengers, and the Guardia Civil just had to divert traffic until it was safe to open the road again.
