The rain in Spain is mainly in the Canary Islands!

The Canary Islands top yesterday’s (Tuesday’s) list of places in the whole of Spain for the highest accumulated rainfall, with Pájara in Fuerteventura the wettest municipality with 14.2 litres of rain up until 5:30pm according to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

After Pajara comes Llano de los Loros, in La Laguna in Tenerife (8.4 litres of rain), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (8.2), Las Tirajanas in Gran Canaria (6.6), Agüimes in Gran Canaria (6.6), Melenara in Gran Canaria (6.4), Tafira in Gran Canaria (5.0), Teror in Gran Canaria (4.8), El Matorral in Gran Canaria (4.6) and Las Palmas airport in Gran Canaria (4. 4 litres).

Also, the biggest gusts of wind were also registered in the Canary Islands yesterday, with a recorded speed of 103km/h in San Cristóbal in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 77 km/h in Agulo (La Gomera), 73km/h in Izaña (Tenerife), 71km/h in Valverde (El Hierro), 68km/h in La Frontera (El Hierro), in Tinajo (Lanzarote) and in the Port of Corralejo (Fuerteventura).

The Islands actually had the most rain, the fastest winds, and the highest temperatures recorded in Spain... all in one day due to the diversity of the current weather. The Canary Islands topped the charts for the highest maximum temperatures throughout the country, with temperatures between 24.2°C in Sabinosa in El Hierro and 20.9°C in Agaete in Gran Canaria.
