A 23-year-old man has died after being stabbed in the neck on a street in Tuineje, Fuerteventura. The Police are searching for the person responsible and investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The stabbing happened in Calle Matías López at around 8.40pm yesterday (Wednesday). The Canary Islands emergency services received a report that a man had suffered a knife wound and sent paramedics, a doctor and a nurse to the area.

Emergency personnel found the victim in cardiac arrest and immediately began resuscitation. They managed to revive and stabilise him before taking him to Fuerteventura General Hospital in a critical condition.

The young man died at the hospital during the early hours of this morning.

The Guardia Civil is leading the investigation and continuing efforts to find the attacker. Officers are also working to establish the motive for the fatal stabbing.
