The GF Victoria in Costa Adeje has become one of Tenerife's leading hotels for inclusive tourism after being awarded an Autism Friendly certification, after creating a safer and more supportive environment for autistic guests and their families.

The five-star luxury resort, part of the GF Hoteles group, earned the certification after working closely with the Autism Friendly Club to adapt its facilities, services and staff training. The aim is to make holidays more comfortable, predictable and less stressful for people on the autism spectrum.

Practical changes throughout the hotel

The hotel has introduced a range of measures designed to make family holidays easier, including:

• Sensory kits available at reception, containing items to help with sensory regulation.
• Visual guides and adapted maps to help guests prepare for their visit.
• Pictogram signage throughout the hotel and in restaurants to improve navigation and communication.
• A fast check-in service to reduce waiting times and minimise anxiety on arrival.

More than 75% of the hotel's staff have also completed specialist training in supporting autistic guests, enabling them to better understand and respond to different communication and sensory needs.

Holidays tailored before guests even arrive

One of the hotel's most innovative features is an optional online questionnaire that families can complete before travelling.

The form allows parents or carers to share useful information about the guest, including their interests, calming techniques and any environmental triggers. This enables staff to personalise rooms and shared spaces before the family arrives, creating a more relaxed and enjoyable stay from the outset.

Alberto Gutiérrez, President of Autism Friendly Club Global, praised the initiative, saying true excellence in tourism means ensuring that everyone can enjoy a memorable holiday.

He said GF Victoria demonstrates that cognitive accessibility can be successfully integrated into a luxury hotel without compromising the guest experience, while giving autistic people and their families the reassurance that they will be understood and supported throughout their stay.

The certification also strengthens Costa Adeje's reputation as a forward-thinking tourist destination that embraces accessibility, sustainability and social responsibility.

GF Hoteles says the project forms part of its wider sustainability strategy, with plans to introduce similar autism-friendly measures across the rest of its hotels in the future.
