Tenerife is heading to the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, which starts today and continues until Thursday, 6th November, with a clear mission: to strengthen its air connectivity with the United Kingdom and attract more visitors drawn to the island’s lifestyle and premium tourism experiences.
According to the Tenerife Cabildo, the UK remains the island’s main source market, with 2.74 million British tourists visiting last year, marking a 9.7% increase compared to 2023. During the first nine months of 2025, 1,555,048 visitors stayed in hotels and apartments across the island.
Tenerife also leads the Canary Islands in air traffic and tourism share from the UK, accounting for 44% of both air and visitor market share in 2024.
During the WTM, Tenerife representatives will meet with leading airlines, tour operators, and travel agencies, including TUI, British Airways, British Airways Holidays, Barrhead Travel, On the Beach, Equator Global, and World2Meet, as well as major media outlets such as The Daily Telegraph, Monocle, Travel Bulletin, and Breaking Travel News.
Lope Afonso, Vice President and Tourism Councillor of the Cabildo, highlighted the importance of the event:
“The World Travel Market is a strategic showcase to consolidate the excellent relationship Tenerife has with the British market and to continue expanding our air connections. Our goal is to ensure Tenerife remains an accessible and attractive choice for UK travellers.”
