TUESDAY WEATHER: Hazy skies and light winds as Calima starts to ease
The Spanish met office (AEMET) has issued Tuesday’s forecast for the Canary Islands, indicating mostly clear skies with some haze and high cloud, as the calima gradually fades, and a slight rise in temperatures inland. In contrast, maximum temperatures will dip slightly in the west of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
Winds will generally be light from the east, strengthening in some areas overnight and shifting to a northeasterly flow by the end of the day.
At sea, easterly and south-easterly winds of force 2 to 4, locally reaching 5, are expected, producing slight to moderate seas. Along the western coasts of Tenerife and La Palma, winds will vary between force 1 and 3. A northerly to north-westerly swell of 1–2 metres are also forecast.

Tenerife
Tenerife will enjoy mostly clear skies with high cloud cover that may create a diffuse, milky appearance overhead. Calima will be more noticeable in the southeast, particularly around the metropolitan area and southern resorts, but will begin to lessen around midday.
Temperatures will hold steady across most of the island, with a slight upward trend in the mid-altitude areas such as La Orotava and parts of the interior. Coastal areas will remain warm but not excessively hot thanks to the moderating effect of the breeze.
Winds from the east will weaken through the middle of the day, creating calm conditions for beachgoers, hikers, and those travelling between regions. By late afternoon and evening, the wind will swing to the northeast and strengthen a little, bringing fresher air from the Atlantic.
Temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 25°C.
Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria will experience broadly clear conditions, dominated by high cloud that may create a hazy sky at times. Calima will remain present in the southeast during the morning before gradually thinning out from midday onwards.
Along the coasts, temperatures will remain stable and pleasant, while the interior and mid-altitude areas may experience a slight rise in temperatures, making it feel warmer during the afternoon.
Winds from the east will ease to a light, variable flow through the morning, offering calmer conditions, before strengthening again in the evening as they shift to a northeasterly direction. This change may bring slightly cooler air to northern coastal zones later in the day.
Temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 24°C.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote will see a generally calm and bright day, with mostly clear skies and only a few patches of low cloud during the early morning, particularly in coastal areas. The calima that has affected visibility in recent days will continue to weaken, offering clearer horizons as the day progresses.
Residents and visitors in the west may notice slightly cooler temperatures compared to previous days. Humidity will remain low due to the lingering calima influence.
Winds will be light and variable throughout the day, providing comfortable conditions for outdoor activities. Northeasterly breezes will be more noticeable at the start and end of the day but are not expected to cause disruptions.
Temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 22°C.
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura’s forecast mirrors Lanzarote with a dry, mostly sunny day ahead. Early low cloud may form in some eastern and northern areas but will clear quickly, making way for a bright day with excellent visibility once the calima begins to disperse around midday.
Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, although the west of the island may see a slight dip in maximums, bringing a fresher feel in the afternoon.
Winds will be light and variable, shifting towards the northeast during the morning and again in the late evening. These gentle breezes will help ease the sensation of warmth without creating rough sea conditions.
