Mercadona has announced a seasonal change to its opening hours in the Canary Islands, with several stores set to open on Sundays throughout the summer. The move aims to meet increased demand during the peak holiday season.
As summer gets underway across the Canaries, not only are the beaches filling up, but shopping habits are also shifting. With more tourists arriving and residents adjusting their routines during the holidays, businesses are responding to the seasonal spike in activity.
Sunday Openings Start 29th June
From Sunday 29th June until 31st August, a selection of Mercadona supermarkets in the Canary Islands will open on Sundays from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The company says the temporary change is designed to better serve customers during the busy summer period.
Up until now, Mercadona stores have operated from Monday to Saturday, 9:00am to 9:30pm, with no Sunday trading. The new Sunday openings are part of a wider rollout across roughly 130 stores nationwide, particularly in regions with high tourist activity such as the Valencia, Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Murcia, Cantabria, and now, the Canaries.
