Jet2.com has announced that they are significantly expanding their flight programme between the Canary Islands and the United Kingdom for summer 2026, by adding 46,000 more seats than last year and surpassing 1.6 million in total.

The increase reinforces the Canaries’ position as a key strategic destination for the British carrier and highlights the continued strength of the UK market in the islands’ tourism sector, especially during the summer season.

La Palma Joins Jet2’s Network

One of the major developments is the addition of La Palma to Jet2.com’s destination map. From 3rd April 2026, the airline will begin operating two weekly flights from Manchester to La Palma Airport, offering around 12,000 seats throughout the season.

Further expansion is expected from late October, with new routes from London Stansted and London Gatwick also planned.

Tenerife South: A Major Operational Hub

Tenerife South Airport will once again be one of Jet2.com’s busiest bases in Spain. It will be the airline’s second-largest airport in the country, behind only Palma de Mallorca.

For summer 2026, more than 660,000 inbound seats are scheduled, with over 100 weekly flights at peak periods. These figures emphasise Tenerife’s role as the primary gateway for British holidaymakers travelling to the Canaries.

Lanzarote and Gran Canaria

Lanzarote’s programme will exceed 420,000 inbound seats this summer, supported by approximately 70 weekly flights during high season. The island remains one of the top choices for British travellers.

Gran Canaria will add about 13,000 more seats compared to summer 2025, surpassing 290,000 in total. At peak times, the airline will operate up to 47 weekly flights, strengthening direct connections with numerous UK cities.

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura will experience the largest percentage growth, gaining around 23,000 additional seats over last summer. This increase brings the island to 250,000 inbound seats, with a maximum of 42 flights per week during periods of high demand.

Overall, Jet2.com plans to operate around 260 weekly flights to the Canary Islands in peak summer, offering direct links from 14 UK airports. These include Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, along with multiple London bases. Notably, London Gatwick will join operations to all four major Canary airports in 2026, widening travel options for passengers from the capital.

Jet2holidays and Regenerative Tourism

The airline’s growth will be matched by an expansion of Jet2holidays, which will work with almost 450 hotels across the Canary Islands to strengthen the sale of complete holiday packages.

Moreover, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have confirmed their commitment to the Alliance for Regenerative Tourism, contributing to the development of the RegNext programme. The initiative aims to position tourism as a driver of environmental and social regeneration in the Archipelago, extending its value beyond traditional economic impact.
