British travellers thinking about escaping to the Canary Islands can currently find some particularly cheap flights, with Jet2 advertising one-way fares from the UK starting at just £41.

The airline's latest September deals include low-cost flights to all four of the main holiday islands, with Lanzarote currently among the cheapest options.

At the time of checking, Jet2 was advertising selected Lanzarote flights from £41 one way, while flights to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria were available from £43, and Tenerife flights were being advertised from £59 one way on selected dates and routes.

The fares are particularly interesting for British holidaymakers who aren't tied to specific travel dates and can be flexible about which UK airport they fly from.

However, anyone spotting a cheap fare will need to move quickly. Jet2 says the prices displayed are its lowest available fares within the month shown, availability at those prices may be limited, and the figures are updated regularly.

In other words, finding a £41 flight doesn't mean every flight to Lanzarote costs £41.

Winter sunshine also discounted

There is another potentially useful offer for people already thinking about escaping the British winter.

Jet2 is currently advertising 10% off flights departing between 1st November 2026 and 31st March 2027, covering the main winter-sun season in the Canary Islands.

That period includes some of the busiest months of the year for the islands, when thousands of British and Irish visitors swap cold weather and short days at home for the considerably warmer climate of the Canary Islands.

For regular visitors, travelling outside the traditional school-holiday periods can also produce substantial savings.

September itself remains an attractive month for anyone able to travel at short notice, with the islands still enjoying summer-like weather but many families already back home following the school holidays.

The Canaries are also unusual among Europe's major holiday destinations because the tourism season doesn't effectively finish when summer ends.

Resorts including Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Puerto Rico, Corralejo and Playa Blanca remain busy throughout autumn and winter, with hotels, restaurants, attractions and excursions continuing to operate.

Check where the cheapest flight actually leaves from

There is one important point for anyone tempted by the headline prices.

Jet2 operates Canary Islands flights from numerous UK airports, and the cheapest fare available from one airport won't necessarily be available from another.

Prices can also change depending on the departure date and how quickly a particular flight is selling.

Travellers should therefore compare several dates and, where practical, nearby departure airports before booking.

Baggage and other optional extras can also increase the final cost, so the headline flight price shouldn't automatically be treated as the total cost of the journey.

Nevertheless, with one-way Canary Islands fares currently appearing from £41, anyone already considering another trip to the islands may find that now is a good time to start checking flights.

And for those who would rather wait until the British weather really turns, the additional winter discount provides another excuse to start planning some sunshine.
