Canaries beaches are full on the first Sunday of August

Good weather and the first Sunday of August meant people flocked to beaches in the Archipelago yesterday, as tens of thousands of residents and visitors chose the coast to relax and spend time with family and friends.

The first Sunday in August is traditionally one of the busiest beach days of the year in the Canary Islands, and this year has been no exception, the beaches have been full of people sunbathing and taking advantage of the sea temperatures with water activities.

The islands are already busy with British holidaymakers for the school holidays, but also a lot of Spanish are here too from the mainland, and on top of that, many Canarians take most of August off as it is the hottest month of the year so it is traditional for their summer holidays.

However, after the last three years of zero tourism and recovery, it’s great to see the islands back to normal for the time of year and people enjoying themselves to the max.
