25-year-old tourist dies on a beach in Costa Adeje

A 25-year-old male holidaymaker died yesterday afternoon (Tuesday) following an incident on a beach in Costa Adeje, in southern Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The young man had to be rescued from the water with signs of drowning on Troya Beach in central Las Americas by lifeguards, who performed resuscitation manoeuvres upon finding him in cardiac arrest.

SUC medical personnel and doctors from the local health centre immediately responded to an alert and went to the beach, where they continued with advanced CPR, however, they were unsuccessful, and certified his death.

The National Police guarded the body on the beach until the arrival of the judicial authority and conducted the corresponding proceedings so it could be taken for official identification and to verify the cause of death.
