Spring is in the air… or is it a calima?
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is forecasting that from tomorrow, Tuesday 23rd March, a calima will start to creep across the archipelago from the east, which will mostly affect Lanzarote and Fuerteventura by tomorrow afternoon.
In general, the skies will be clear at the start of the day with some cloudy intervals during the morning in lowland areas of the western province (Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro), with not much change in minimum temperatures but an increase in the maximums. These will be more pronounced in the summits of Tenerife and Gran Canaria, and in inland areas of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
In the meantime, cloudy skies are expected today in the north of the more mountainous islands, tending to cloudy intervals during the afternoon with a low probability of occasional light rains during the afternoon.
In the rest of the areas there will be cloudy intervals, tending to slightly cloudy or clear skies, except for the southwest slopes in the middle of the day, as reported by Aemet.
