The TF-1 road works continues this week between San Isidro and the south airport

The Tenerife Cabildo released this week’s schedule for the ongoing works of resurfacing the TF-1 southbound carriageway yesterday, which shows that from tonight (Sunday) until next Friday morning, they will be completing another section through the municipality of Granadilla.

The works have all been carried out overnight between 10pm and 6am, so as to cause the least disruption or traffic delays as possible, especially as commercial activity currently has to close at midnight in Tenerife, so there is less traffic during the night than usual.

The Cabildo Councillor for Roads, Enrique Anaga, has explained that the resurfacing that is being carried out is 50% more environmentally friendly than before, thanks to materials and recycling techniques that consist of re-using the old asphalt layer that is going to be replaced.

The process consists of milling and spreading the intermediate layer of the road surface, which will always be carried out to affect traffic as little as possible at night, and the road will return to normal during the day.

To guarantee the safety and fluidity of traffic, the diversion of vehicles to the south will be enabled at the junctions of Granadilla, Chimiche, CoCarmen, San Isidro and El Médano.

The works start tonight (Sunday) on the slow lane and outer shoulder of the carriageway from km 56.3 and will be completed on Friday morning at 6am at km 58.6, with a 2.3km stretch of the motorway resurfaced this week.

The detours at night only, will affect vehicles coming to Tenerife South Airport and want to access San Isidro, Granadilla or El Médano, which must continue to junction 59, make a U-turn and return towards Santa Cruz de Tenerife to exit at junction 57.

Those coming from San Isidro or El Médano, wanting to go in the direction of Tenerife Sur airport, will have to go northbound and turn round at the Granadilla Industrial Park junction, to make a U-turn and go to the airport.
