Off-duty policeman saves kite surfers life in La Tejita
An off-duty National Policeman has been hailed as a hero after he saved the life of a man who had suffered an accident while practicing kite surfing at Playa la Tejita, in Granadilla de Abona, in the south of Tenerife.
The incident happened on Monday, when the policeman, who is a kite surfing fan and surfs himself, noticed that that two other kite surfers had collided and that one of them was crying for help in the water, reports an official press release from the National Police.
After telling those around to call emergency services, the agent ran straight into the sea, swimming out to help the man who was clearly dazed and injured, and in trouble in the water.
Once rescued, and out of danger on the beach, the policeman put the injured man into his car as emergency services weren’t there yet, and drove him straight to hospital in Santa Cruz, where his injuries were assessed and he was attended to.
