A 52-year-old man has died on a beach in Playa Blanca, in the municipality of Yaiza in Lanzarote, after being rescued from the sea by lifeguards who tried to resuscitate him, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The incident occurred at around 11.30am yesterday morning (Sunday), when CECOES received an emergency alert in which it was reported that lifeguards on the beach in Playa Blanca had rescued a male from the sea and were initiating CPR on the beach.
SUC personnel were dispatched immediately and paramedics took over from the lifeguards after confirming that the man was still in cardiorespiratory arrest, continuing with basic and advanced CPR.
Unfortunately their efforts were in vain as the man didn’t respond, and all they were able to do was confirm his death. The Guardia Civil guarded the body of the deceased until the arrival of the judicial authority, who instructed the corresponding proceedings to inform the man’s family and take his body for an autopsy.
