9-year-old girl dies after being hit by a car in Lanzarote

A nine-year-old girl has died after she was hit by a vehicle in Tías yesterday afternoon, Thursday 5th November, despite attempts by a doctor and paramedics to save her.

The Canary Islands emergency services received the call at 5:23pm alerting them to the incident on Calle La Luchada in the municipality of Tías.

A doctor who was at the scene found that the girl was in cardiac arrest and began resuscitation attempts before the emergency medical teams arrived.

Paramedics were dispatched to the location given, along with a doctor and nurse from the Tías health centre.

They continued with advanced techniques to resuscitate the child, but unfortunately, they were unable to save her and confirmed that she had died at the scene.

Members of Tías Local Police and Civil Protection also attended. Police are now investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Details of her identity and nationality have not been disclosed.
