Canary Islands residents have downloaded the most 'Covid certificates' in Spain

The Canary Islands has issued more EU Covid Digital Certificates, in relation to its population, than any other region of Spain with 63.5% of the population having one, according to data from the Ministry of Health. To date, Spain has issued a total of 21,069,583 EU Digital Certificates, of which 20,186,693 are for vaccination, 456,646 for recovery from the virus, and 426,244 for proof of a diagnostic test.

One of the main uses of the certificate is for travel between the member countries of the European Union. In this sense, 1,303,977 travellers have benefited from the Fast Control access route to Spain at airports, using their Certificate in the SPTH application, while, in ports, a total of 10,404 Fast Control accesses have been counted.

In addition, the Ministry of Health has answered more than 94,505 calls from travellers and citizens to the hotline service, and 52,975 emails on the use of the SpTH+ application and the issuance of certificates.

After the Canary Islands, Galicia (62.69%), Catalonia (59.58%), the Valencian Community (59.13%) and the Basque Country (45.92%) have all been placed above the average national of 44.4% of the population that have downloaded certificates.

These figures, which are sent weekly to the EU Commission, confirm the high interest of the population in obtaining the Covid Digital Certificate, a fundamental tool to encourage safe mobility and facilitate the economic recovery of our country and Europe.
