Covid update: 172 new cases, more in Tenerife than Gran Canaria
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, there have been 172 new cases of Covid-19 detected in the Canary Islands in the last 24 hours, 77 of which are in Tenerife, 66 in Gran Canaria, 12 in Fuerteventura, and 8 in Lanzarote. They also reported of one more death, which was in Gran Canaria.
These new cases take the accumulated total to 41,375 people that have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic began, and 602 people have now lost their lives. Today’s total of 324 medical discharges means that active cases have dropped below 5,000 for the first time since the beginning of December to 4,877.
As for the Accumulated Incidence (AI) at 7 days in the Canary Islands, it stands at 52.20 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and over 14 days at 107.74 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Also, so far 882,387 tests have been carried out; of which 46,303 have been positive, representing 5.25%.
