Covid update: 493 people discharged from hospital and isolation today

The archipelago begins the week with 253 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health of the Canary Islands. Most are concentrated on the islands of Gran Canaria, 140, which continues to be at alert Level 3, and Lanzarote, with 78 new cases, at Level 4.

Tenerife has registered just 36 new cases this Monday, and reaches a total of 15,184 accumulated in total and still has 4,259 active cases on the island. Fuerteventura adds just one new case, La Palma has two less than yesterday due to a statistical adjustment, and La Gomera and El Hierro do not record any.

In total, the Canary Islands has now accumulated 33,750 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 8,418 active, 247 less than yesterday. Of these, 64 people are admitted to ICU and 330 remain hospitalized in wards. In the last 24 hours there have been a massive 493 hospital discharges and 24,822 people have now recovered from the virus.

On the other hand, the death of six people has been reported in the Canary Islands, which increases the death tally to 510 since the pandemic began. Of these, one has been registered in Tenerife, which has 322 fatalities; three in Gran Canaria, which accumulates 158; and two in Lanzarote, although the statistical register adds one more due to the validation of one of the deaths that occurred yesterday, and 36 people have died Covid related deaths in the last week.

To date, a total of 765,877 PCR tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 3,170 correspond to the last 24 hours.
