A wildfire outbreak late Sunday night has triggered the evacuation of approximately 100 homes in the El Paso municipality of La Palma. The incident, which began around 10:00pm in the El Riachuelo area, has mobilised around 80 emergency personnel, including firefighters, local police, Guardia Civil, and environmental officials from the Cabildo de La Palma.
Authorities are working with fire engines, municipal water carriers, and the Cecopin crisis management team to contain the blaze. Given the nighttime conditions, only ground resources are currently being utilized, with aerial support not available after dark.
Residents have been urged to avoid venturing outdoors to observe the fire, as keeping roads clear is critical for efficient emergency response.
Evacuation Zones
Evacuation orders have been issued as a precaution for homes located on Calle Valencia, from the Cumbrecita junction upwards, and in the Los Barriales area. Residents in these zones have been instructed to leave their homes temporarily to facilitate firefighting efforts.
To assist evacuees, the El Paso municipal fairgrounds have been designated as a temporary shelter.

Canary Islands President Fernando Clavijo addressed the situation on social media, expressing concern and closely monitoring the fire's evolution. He emphasized the importance of following instructions from emergency personnel and relying on official information channels for updates.
The authorities have stressed the importance of cooperation from residents and visitors to ensure a swift and effective response. Keeping access routes clear and adhering to evacuation orders will significantly aid in the containment efforts.
