Vodafone has alerted customers in the Canary Islands about an increase in fraudulent calls from scammers posing as the telecoms company. These calls attempt to trick customers by informing them of supposed tariff changes, router configurations, or by conducting customer satisfaction surveys.
In a statement issued today, Thursday, Vodafone stressed that these calls are not being made by their employees or agents. Instead, they are being carried out by cybercriminals aiming to steal sensitive information from their customers.
The company reiterated that Vodafone never calls to notify customers about tariff changes, price increases, or to request banking or billing information. Nor do they contact customers about router configurations or conduct service quality surveys over the phone.
Vodafone advises customers to immediately hang up if they receive such calls, block the number, and report the incident through Vodafone's official customer service channels if they receive one.
This warning is part of Vodafone’s efforts to protect its customers from growing scams targeting the region.
