A violent brawl at Playa de Las Burras, also known as Los Enojados, in Arona, in the south of Tenerife, left several people injured last Saturday (July 6th), from attackers using knives and rocks as weapons.
According to the report from the Arona Local Police, they received an emergency call at 7:25pm informing them of a fight at Playa de Las Burras, located between the neighbourhoods of Las Galletas and El Fraile.
Responding officers confirmed the severity of the situation upon arrival, finding evidence of a violent brawl involving sharp weapons and rocks.
When the police arrived, the suspects fled on foot towards El Fraile, but guided by witness descriptions, officers quickly located two of the suspects approximately 200 metres from the scene of the fight.
One of them, an 18-year-old Cuban male, had a severe head wound and multiple injuries to his limbs. His companion, a 32-year-old Colombian male, also had various visible injuries. The two men reported being attacked by three other men, one armed with a large knife. They claimed that two assailants fled the scene, while one remained on the beach.
Earlier, the Cuban youth claimed he had faced death threats from the same aggressors who had allegedly attempted to break into his home the night before.
A large knife was retrieved from the scene by the officers. Reinforcements, including four additional patrol units from the Arona Local Police and one from the Guardia Civil, arrived to assist. The remaining suspect who had stayed on the beach, a 31-year-old Argentinian male, was identified and arrested, suffering from a stab wound to his face reportedly caused by a screwdriver.
The officers arrested three people as follows:
- The 31-year-old Argentine national faces charges of public disorder, threats, and bodily harm.
- The 32-year-old Colombian and the 18-year-old Cuban nationals face similar charges, with the addition of attempted homicide.
A fourth suspect, a 32-year-old Argentinian, was later located on Calle Miguel Calcerrada in El Fraile. He received medical attention for injuries from the fight before being arrested on charges of public disorder, threats, and bodily harm.
All injured parties received initial medical assistance from SUC paramedics, but one of them needed further treatment at Hospital del Sur in El Mojón. The three detainees were also treated for their injuries at the Los Cristianos Health Centre, but their aggressive behaviour persisted, making it difficult for medical staff and attending officers.
Following treatment, the detainees were transferred to the main Guardia Civil station in Playa de Las Américas, where they remain in custody pending judicial proceedings.
