A two-year-old boy was hospitalised yesterday (Friday) after being rescued with signs of drowning from the Bajamar natural pools in the municipality of La Laguna, Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
Emergency services were dispatched to the location given following a call alerting them that lifeguards were assisting a young child who had been pulled from the water showing signs of drowning.
CECOES activated two ambulances from the Canary Islands Emergency Service, and when paramedics arrived at the scene they took over from the lifeguards and continued to provide assistance to the child to try and stabilise him.
Once stable, they took him to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria by ambulance where he was admitted with moderate signs of drowning for further treatment.
The incident highlights the importance of vigilance and quick response in preventing drownings, especially in public swimming areas.
