Two international fugitives arrested in La Palma by National Police

The National Police have arrested two internationally wanted criminals who had been hiding in La Palma. Both had active judicial arrest warrants at the national and international levels for non-related cases, and were taken into custody on the same day.

A Fugitive from Slovakia

The first suspect, a Slovak national, was detained under a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by the District Court of Galanta and based on a ruling by the Regional Court of Trnava in Slovakia.

The man was wanted to serve a prison sentence, and following his arrest, he was handed over to the Central Court of the National High Court in Madrid for extradition proceedings.

A Fraud Suspect from Germany

On the same day, police also arrested a German citizen wanted under a Search, Arrest, and Appearance Order issued by a court in Granada in connection with a fraud case.

These arrests highlight the National Police’s commitment to international judicial cooperation and its fight against transnational crime. The authorities reaffirmed their efforts to prevent the Canary Islands from becoming a safe haven for fugitives, ensuring that all judicial rulings, both national and international, are enforced effectively.
