Two men were taken to hospital after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a restaurant in the Metropolis commercial centre near the Patch, in Playa de Las Americas last night (Monday).

The emergency services were alerted at 8:15pm and firefighters were dispatched to the location given, where they extinguished the blaze before ventilating the premises.

Two men, aged 26 and 24, required medical treatment after inhaling smoke.

The 26-year-old was assessed as suffering moderate smoke inhalation, while the 24-year-old was also treated for smoke inhalation. Both were transferred by ambulance to Quirónsalud Costa Adeje Hospital for further treatment.

The Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), Local Police and National Police attended alongside firefighters, with police assisting during the emergency and completing the relevant reports.

No further injuries have been reported, and the available official information does not indicate that the fire spread beyond the restaurant.

The precise cause of the kitchen fire has not been disclosed at the time of reporting.
