The National Police have dismantled a criminal group involved in the large-scale cultivation, sale, and distribution of marijuana in the south of Tenerife. The investigation led to the arrest of four men of Spanish and British nationality, charged with drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organisation.
The suspects rented luxury villas equipped with high-level security measures, which they modified for the cultivation of marijuana. These modifications included the installation of air filters and hermetically sealed doors and windows to facilitate various stages of marijuana growth and processing.
During the police raids, conducted under judicial authorisation at three properties in the south, agents seized:
- 100 kilograms of marijuana buds
- 900 marijuana plants in different stages of growth
- 2 kilograms of "rosin" (a cannabis extract produced by applying pressure and heat to marijuana buds or hashish)
- Nearly 40,000 euros in cash
- Various instruments and machinery used for cultivation and distribution
The investigation began in April and culminated in the recent arrests and the suspects being brought to judicial authorities. Among the four detainees, one of them already has a criminal record for drug trafficking.
This operation highlights the ongoing police efforts to combat drug trafficking and dismantle criminal networks in the region. The successful intervention highlights the importance of vigilance and thorough investigation in maintaining public safety and upholding the law.
