Three hotels on the Golden Mile to undergo a 90 million makeover

The three hotels of the Mare Nostrum Resort complex, located on the ‘Golden Mile’ of Playa de Las Américas in the south of Tenerife and in a prime seafront location on El Camison beach, are to undergo a major makeover starting in January 2023, costing 90 million euros, which will force them to close for several months.

The Mediterranean Palace, Cleopatra Palace, and Sir Anthony hotels were acquired by the Canadian company Brookfield Asset Management in the summer of 2021 for 440 million euros, after closing an agreement with the Selenta group.

Work will begin on the first two hotels, the Mediterranean Palace, where the most changes and costly work will be carried out, and the Sir Anthony, just after the Three Kings festivity.

The Mediterranean Palace is expected to be open again after the summer in September, in time for the winter season, while the Sir Anthony will begin to receive clients in June. Work on the Cleopatra Palace is scheduled to start next September, to allow time for the refurbishment of the other two to be completed.

In addition to the three hotels, which have more than 1,000 rooms between them, the Mare Nostrum complex has the Pirámide de Arona for shows and exhibitions and is also home to the Hard Rock Café.
