The passage of the DANA in the Canary Islands has left snow at the highest point of the country. Mount Teide dawned this morning covered in white, a spectacular sight that people have been waiting months to see.

According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the Izaña weather station in Teide National Park recorded the second lowest temperatures in all of Spain this morning of -2.7°C.

It also had the second-highest gusts of wind which were recorded at almost 100 kilometres per hour.

Access roads to Teide closed again.

Given the formation of ice patches on the road and frost at Las Cañadas, the Tenerife Cabildo closed the accesses to the Teide National Park again this morning (Sunday) through La Esperanza (TF-24) and La Orotava (TF-21).

The closure on the TF-21 is from Km 16 (Aguamansa) to KM 45 (Parador de las Cañadas del Teide), while on the TF 24 it goes from Km 24 (Los Loros crossing) to the end.

The Cabildo is advising people to avoid unnecessary trips, especially to the peak areas of the island, as well as engaging in outdoor activities.
