The Association of Airlines describes the mask use of on planes as ‘nonsense’

The Association of Airlines (ALA) has released a statement saying that they find it "incomprehensible that Spain is the only country in Europe, and almost the only one in the world, where the use of masks on board aircraft continues to be mandatory".

Yesterday (Friday), the president of the ALA, Javier Gándara, said: “in Spain, experts are referred to maintain this obligation, but in the rest of the countries of the world there are also experts who care about the safety of their citizens, and that they have already determined that the use of masks is no longer needed on planes.

In addition, he added that there is a ‘ridiculous inconsistency’ in requiring to wear one when flying over Spanish airspace, so that "in a 12-hour flight, passengers don’t need one for 11 hours but must wear one for last hour, and it is hoped that this will reduce the possibility of contagion, it seems a real nonsense to us”.

The president ends the statement by reiterating that the obligation to wear masks on planes should be removed, and be left to the discretion or choice of the passenger to match the rest of the countries that have not required it for months now.
