The countdown has begun for one of the most thrilling surf events on the European calendar: Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro is officially returning to the sun-drenched shores of the south of Tenerife.
From 22nd November to 8th December 2025, Playa de Las Américas will be transformed into a global hub of surf culture, hosting more than 300 surfers from around the world in a celebration of sport, music, food, and environmental consciousness.
The UP! rooftop at the Hotel Bitácora provided the perfect backdrop this Tuesday for the high-energy launch of the festival’s upcoming edition. Organisers and local officials came together to unveil what promises to be an unforgettable 17 days of competition and cultural exchange. With the roar of the Atlantic just a short stroll away, the excitement in the room was palpable.
Among those present were Ignacio Solana Rodríguez, CEO of Gesprotour; Luis Sierra, Councillor for Education, Culture and Sports in Arona; Naím Yánez, Councillor for Tourism, Culture and Historical Heritage; Yaiza González, Product Director at Spring Hotels; Ángel Lobo, President of the Canary Islands Surf Federation; and José Fernández, the event’s passionate promoter. All shared a united vision: to make the 2025 edition of Spring Surfest bigger, better, and more impactful than ever.
Ignacio Solana emphasised the broader importance of events like Surfest for the Canary Islands’ tourism model, which aims to combine sustainability with economic vitality. He revealed that last year alone, over €3.4 million of the region’s €14 million sponsorship budget was allocated to sporting events, proof of the islands’ commitment to raising the bar for quality tourism experiences.
Luis Sierra spoke of surfing’s magnetic power to draw elite athletes and international attention to Arona, putting it firmly on the map as a European surf capital. Naím Yánez echoed that sentiment, stressing the council’s unwavering support for events that drive sustainable and health-focused tourism.
The connection between the host venue and the event was also highlighted by Yaiza González, who noted that for Spring Hotels, Spring Surfest is more than a sponsorship, it's an extension of the lifestyle they promote. "This is a sport that directly resonates with our guests. The values and energy of the festival align perfectly with what we strive to offer as a leisure and sports hotel," she said.
Reflecting on the success of the previous edition, promoter José Fernández shared his enthusiasm for the growing prestige of the Eurokids competition and the festival’s increasingly international reach. “We had surfers join us from countries as diverse as Switzerland, Lithuania, Poland, China and the United States,” he noted. “It’s a sign that our vision is catching on across the globe.”
As the festival edges closer, Ángel Lobo announced the four competitions that will form the core of the 2025 event. The Open Las Américas Pro will kick off from 24th to 27th November, followed by the Junior Series from 28th to 30th November. Then it’s the turn of the Euromaster from 1st to 4th December, and finally, the Eurokids championship will close out the festival from 4th to 8th December.
With the Atlantic swell rolling in and the world’s best surfers lining up to take part, Spring Surfest Las Américas Pro 2025 is shaping up to be a sensational showcase of wave-riding talent and cultural celebration. Surfers, fans, and festivalgoers, mark your calendars.
