A third search operation for Arek, the 15-year-old Polish boy who went missing in February after being swept away by a wave off the coast of Tenerife, has ended without results.
The operation, focused on the Charco del Viento area in the municipality of La Guancha, was carried out on Tuesday and coordinated by the volunteer marine rescue platform Canarias, 1,500 km de costa.
Arek disappeared on the morning of 22nd February 2025, when a powerful wave pulled him into the sea. Since then, it has been feared that his body may have remained trapped in an underwater cave along the rugged northern coastline, or been swept out to sea.
Intensive Search Effort
This latest operation involved around 20 volunteers, including a couple of Swiss firefighters and professional divers, with the search running from 4:00pm until nightfall.
The team consisted of:
Drone pilots from Acudropol, an association of drone professionals from various police forces across the Canary Islands, also contributed to the operation.
Sebastián Quintana, president of the platform, praised the collaborative efforts and dedication of all involved.
Arek’s mother expressed her heartfelt gratitude from Poland in a message shared by the platform:
“Thank you for the commitment, the help, and the support shown to our family. If one day the ocean decides to return him to us, we know you will be near.”
Despite the operation's outcome, the searchers remain committed to assisting the family and honouring the memory of the boy who has touched many hearts in the Canary Islands and beyond.
