Local residents in Costa Teguise have spoken out about ongoing disruptions caused by unfinished roadworks on Calle Crucero, near the popular Pueblo Marinero.

They claim that work has come to a complete standstill in recent weeks.

The road has been closed for several months due to infrastructure works connected to the new Las Cucharas shopping centre. However, while initial progress was made, including digging a trench and laying pipes, since then it has been completely abandoned.

“They started the trench and installed the piping, but now there’s no one working. We’re fed up with the dust, the mess, and the fact that the whole area is cut off,” one resident said, “This is a tourist area, and the closure has also meant a large car park is closed, pushing all the traffic and parking problems onto neighbouring streets.”

According to the complaints, the road has been closed for several weeks with no sign of ongoing work, making it especially difficult for elderly people and those with reduced mobility to get around.

“There’s real concern that when they do finally finish, the job will just be patched up and not properly resurfaced,” the residents added.

At time of going to press, there is no completion date according to the Teguise Council.
