A passenger arriving in Lanzarote from Liverpool had to be given urgent medical attention after suffering seizures during the final stage of her flight. The incident occurred on Thursday, 4th September, on Jet2 flight LS3201 from Liverpool to Lanzarote.

According to Spain’s Air Traffic Controllers, the crew alerted the control tower that a woman on board was experiencing convulsions and required immediate medical help.

Air traffic controllers prioritised the aircraft’s arrival by shortening its approach, authorising a higher landing speed, and clearing other traffic out of its path so it could land as quickly as possible.

On the ground, the tower coordinated with airport medical services, who met the aircraft on the runway and provided emergency assistance to the passenger as she disembarked.

No further details have been released about the woman’s condition.

The Canary Islands have seen several medical emergencies on flights in recent months. In February, two separate planes arriving at Tenerife South had to be given priority landings after passengers fell seriously ill during flights from Paris and Stockholm.

In August, a Vueling service heading to Fuerteventura was forced to divert to Málaga when a traveller suffered a suspected heart attack mid-air, with emergency crews waiting on the runway.

Last autumn, a Transavia flight from Amsterdam to Gran Canaria also made an emergency landing after a passenger became critically unwell, prompting a rapid descent and an immediate hospital transfer on arrival.

These cases show how common in-flight emergencies can be, and the importance of swift coordination between flight crews, air traffic control, and airport medical teams across the islands.
