Hollywood actor Russell Crowe has been turning heads in Gran Canaria after a new photo shared on social media revealed the actor looking noticeably fitter while filming his latest movie on the island.
The image was posted by fellow cast member Drew McIntyre, the former WWE wrestling champion turned actor, and shows the pair working out together in the gym at the iconic Santa Catalina Hotel in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Crowe is currently filming The Last Druid, in which he plays the leader of a Caledonian tribe resisting the Roman invasion of Britain. McIntyre is believed to portray one of the Roman soldiers, having previously been spotted in costume during filming on the coast of Telde.
Directed by William Eubank, the production also features Scottish actress Rose Leslie, best known for her roles in Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey. The film is being produced with the involvement of Gran Canaria-born producer Adrián Guerra.
The cast has been based at the historic Santa Catalina Hotel, which has become something of a hub for the production during filming.
Last week, Crowe also shared a video from inside the hotel on his own social media channels, announcing that the documentary he directed about his band will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.
With another major international production choosing Gran Canaria as its backdrop, the island continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Europe's most attractive filming destinations, attracting Hollywood stars and big-budget productions alike.
