New orange and yellow weather warnings activated across the Canary Islands

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has updated and expanded its weather warnings for the Canary Islands, due to adverse meteorological conditions. The entire archipelago is under a yellow alert for heat today (Friday), with Gran Canaria’s southern regions and peaks under an orange alert.

Additionally, new warnings are in place for three islands tomorrow, Saturday, as temperatures are expected to rise again due to a hot air mass coming in from Africa. On Sunday and Monday, they could exceed 40°C in some areas.

TENERIFE:

Heat Alert: Yellow alert from 11:00am to 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday. Affected areas include the metropolitan area, east, south, and west, with temperatures expected to reach 34°C, especially in interior regions, midlands, and western and southern peaks.

Strong Waves Alert: This alert will be active from 9:00pm on Saturday, affecting the southern, eastern, and western coasts.

GRAN CANARIA:

Heat Alert: Orange alert from 11:00am to 8:00pm on Friday, shifting to a yellow alert for the same hours on Saturday. Affected areas include the island’s peaks, east, south, and west, where temperatures are expected to reach 37°C, particularly in interior regions, midlands, and western and southern peaks.

Strong Waves Alert: Effective from 9:00pm on Saturday, affecting the southern, eastern, and western coasts.

LANZAROTE:

Heat Alert: Yellow alert from 11:00am to 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday. The entire island is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 34°C, especially in interior regions, midlands, and western and southern peaks.

FUERTEVENTURA:

Heat Alert: Yellow alert from 11:00am to 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday. The entire island is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 34°C, especially in interior regions, midlands, and western and southern peaks.

Heat Alert: Yellow alert from 11:00am to 8:00pm on Friday and Saturday. The entire island is expected to reach a maximum temperature of 34°C, especially in interior regions, midlands, and western and southern peaks.
