A female National Police officer who saved the life of a 31-year-old man who was stabbed in the neck during a fight in Veronicas, in Playa Las Americas, has been hailed a hero by the man whose life he saved, after he visited him to say thankyou now that he is on the road to full recovery.
The incident happened at around 4:00am on August 13th in the popular nightlife area in the south of Tenerife. The National Police were alerted by the CIMMACC 091 control room due to a fight in las Veronicas. When they got there, they found the victim semi-conscious and bleeding heavily from a deep wound to his jugular.
The quick response of the officer, a member of the Local Citizen Security Brigade of South Tenerife, played a critical role in keeping the victim stable until paramedics arrived. Months later, the grateful victim personally thanked the officer for her actions.
When she saw the victim, she immediately administered first aid, applying a pressure bandage to stem the bleeding and working to keep the young man conscious. This officer, originally from Tenerife, had previously been recognised for her exceptional service while stationed in Madrid.
Meanwhile, other officers at the scene collected witness statements and quickly located the three alleged attackers, who were arrested and taken into custody. Paramedics soon arrived, and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery. He was later transferred to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria, where he remained under medical care.
In a heartfelt moment, the victim, of Venezuelan nationality, visited the police station following his recovery to personally express his gratitude to the officers who had saved his life.
