In a shocking display of the lengths some will go to for online attention, an influencer named Chloe Lopez has sparked controversy with an outrageous act at a Mercadona supermarket in Valencia. The incident highlights the increasingly extreme behaviour seen on social media as people seek to capture the public's attention.
While shopping in the store, Chloe was recorded committing a disturbing act in the bakery section. Without looking away from the camera, she removed her underwear and placed it on one of the shelves displaying bread for customers then walked away laughing.
The video has caused widespread backlash amongst social media users who say the influencer has gone too far and are disgusted with her behaviour.
Mercadona has decided to take action and have filed an official complaint (denuncia) against her for public disorder and an offence against public health, which the police are investigating.
This is not the first time Chloe has engaged in controversial actions on social media leaving her ‘panties’ in several public place including on the heads of statues and monuments; however, this action is raising serious questions about the impact of social media on behaviour and the lengths people will go to for likes and views.
