Man faces prison for threatening to leak naked video of a minor
A man who threatened a teenager from Lanzarote with sharing an intimate video online if he refused to have sex with him has confessed to the crime and reached an agreement with the prosecution, avoiding a full trial.
The case will be heard next week by the Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. It was initially set to be tried by a jury, but the process is now expected to conclude swiftly following the defendant’s admission of guilt and payment of compensation to the victim for moral damages.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the incident took place in the early hours of 31st January 2019, when the accused, identified as H.A.E.E., allegedly contacted the 17-year-old victim through Instagram and threatened to publish a naked video of him on social media if he did not agree to have sexual relations.
The victim reportedly suffered severe emotional distress, including anxiety, fear, shame, and confusion, fearing that the accused would share the video publicly if he refused his demands.
Prosecutors classify the events as a crime of conditional threats and are seeking a six-month prison sentence and temporary disqualification from holding public office or voting during that period, as well as the payment of court costs.
The case experienced a lengthy delay of nearly three years, from March 2022 until March 2025, for reasons unrelated to the accused, according to the court record.
