A 41-year-old man died yesterday (Thursday) following an accident at the Puerto del Carmen marina in Lanzarote, according to reports from the Emergency and Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The incident occurred shortly after 6:00pm which is when CECOES received a call informing them that an unconscious person had been rescued from the water at the dock after an accident involving a speed boat.
Upon arrival, medical personnel found the man, identified as a French national, in cardiac arrest and attempted both basic and advanced CPR to revive him. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful, and his death was confirmed at the scene.
The Guardia Civil then guarded the body until the judicial authority arrived to carry out the necessary procedures and give authorisation for it to be removed for an autopsy.
An investigation into the incident has been opened to determine the circumstances and cause of the man's death.
